The International Association For Premenstrual Disorders defines Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) as: "is a cyclical, hormone-based mood disorder with symptoms arising during the premenstrual, or luteal phase of the menstrual cycle and subsiding within a few days of menstruation. It affects an estimated 5.5% of women of reproductive age". PMDD, is a severe form of PMS that affects women of reproductive age. It can cause a range of emotional and psychological symptoms, including anxiety, irritability, depression, and mood swings. These symptoms can have a significant impact on a woman's daily life, leading to difficulties at work, home, and in personal relationships.
